About

Whakanui means celebration - we aim to celebrate people and their abilities and those who strive to work for and in partnership with disabled and neurodiverse people, tangata whaikaha Māori and families or whānau. 

 

We will elevate excellence, learn from our work and transform good into great.

Whakanui is a multi-platform limited libability company compromised of experienced and emerging developmental evaluators, trainers and researchers dedicated to assisting disabled and neurodiverse people and their family or whānau celebrate and explore what a great life means.  It is founded on Enabling Good Lives (EGL) principles. ​ Whakanui aims to celebrate excellence and assist providers to understand and work within the evolving sector, and assist their teams to explore Enabling Good Lives principles in their everyday practice.  We offer training, evaluation and support for service providers, research and advocacy

 

Whakanui uses a collaborative approach to decision making through a committee comprising of the Whakanui Team

Mission

To celebrate the mana and authority of disabled, tāngata whaikaha Māori, neurodiverse people and their families, whānau, aiga and to celebrate excellence.

Logo

The logo for Whakanui is the tī kōuka or the New Zealand Cabbage Tree.  Its leaves burst into the New Zealand sky like celebratory fireworks.
